Many applicants wonder if they can use their Certificate of Report of Birth DS-1350 as proof of citizenship.

What is a Certificate of Report of Birth DS-1350?

If you’re a U.S. citizen who was born abroad, you may have been issued a Certificate of Report of Birth, which is also known as DS-1350. This foreign birth document can be used as proof of U.S. citizenship. Not every U.S citizen who was born in another country will have this particular document– DS-1350 was only issued to individuals born between November 1, 1990 and December 31, 2010. If you were born before this timeframe, you would have a different birth document called a FS-545; if you were born after this timeframe, you would have been issued an FS-240.
